Does fruit make you fat?

I remember when I had this mindset a few years ago.. I literally would limit myself to one piece of fruit a day because I was afraid of the sugars!

But the truth is FRUIT IS YOUR FRIEND. 👭🍒There's no need to be scared of fruits sugar content. Here's why, not all sugars are metabolized the same in the body. Fruit, unlike processed sugar is full of antioxidants, fiber and water. An oreo on the other hand might have the same amount of sugar but full of processed ingredients, lacks fiber and can actually generate more cravings.

This doesn't mean run to the store and grab jars of maraschino cherries 👎🏼😂 this means grab fruit in its whole, unprocessed form. An apple, a pear, strawberries. Stay away from canned fruit, which has no nutritional value and includes added syrups and sugars.

Fruit is not the enemy. Fruit does not make you fat! Excess calories, processed foods, bad digestion/elimination make you fat. Adding more fruits into my routine was scary at first, but honestly I’ve only gained health since making this change. My digestion has improved dramatically, my tummy is flatter and my cravings for specific foods have even subsided.

If your looking to cut down on sugar in your diet your taking a great step toward a healthier lifestyle. With that being said, dont be scared of fruit. If your looking to cut down your sugar intake start with highly processed foods like (cookies, candy, soda, etc) which are full of added sugar.🍪🍩

Remember: Fruit has fiber, antioxidants, and water. The high fibr content and water slows the release of these sugars into the bloodstream.

Apples, bananas, cherries, strawberries, peaches, plums, pears, mangoes, pineapples, oranges, lemons, papaya, watermelon, kiwi– these are some of the healthiest (and tastiest) foods on the planet. Don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. Happy Hump Day! 💕
